The Headteacher of Akim Mante D/A Basic School is currently a very unhappy man.

In an interview with a blogger, he revealed the backlash he has faced from the Ghana Education Service (GES) after MrBeast built a new school block for his community.

According to him, the GES in his district has punished him for granting permission for the project. He disclosed that he was previously an Assistant Director II, but has now been demoted to Principal Superintendent, a lower rank, with an accompanying reduction in his salary. Despite writing several letters seeking clarification, he says he has received no official response explaining the reason for his demotion.

In the video, the visibly distressed headteacher pleaded with the authorities to address the matter. He pointed out the irony that while police personnel are usually promoted for similar initiatives that benefit their communities, he is instead being demoted by the GES for the same kind of effort.

He further noted the contradiction in GES’s actions: the service is currently training teachers on how to manage stress and mental health issues in the new curriculum, yet it is creating stressful situations for teachers that could lead to the very mental health problems they are being trained to address.
