President of the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana, Samson Deen, has honoured his pledge to reward Ghana’s para-athletes by presenting a £2,000 cash bonus to silver medalist Zinabu Issah following her impressive performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Zinabu, who won Ghana’s first medal at the Games after claiming silver in the women’s F57 Shot Put event with a season-best throw of 8.65 metres, received the reward in recognition of her remarkable achievement.
The cash presentation was made on behalf of the NPC Ghana President by Ghana Wheelchair Basketball Federation President, Henry Larbi, and Ghana Para Swimming President, Farida, who commended Zinabu for her dedication and for making the nation proud on the international stage.
Ahead of the Games, Samson Deen announced a Special Target Podium Medal Bonus for Ghana’s para-athletes, promising £3,000 for every gold medal, £2,000 for silver, and £1,000 for bronze. The presentation to Zinabu fulfills that commitment and underscores the NPC’s determination to reward excellence and motivate athletes to strive for podium finishes.
Zinabu’s silver medal has been celebrated as a historic achievement for Ghana’s para-sport movement and serves as an inspiration to her teammates, who continue their quest for more medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The fulfillment of the promised incentive is expected to further boost the morale of Ghana’s para-athletes as they continue to represent the nation with pride and determination.
