A 2-day ITTF Africa Hopes Week and Challenge event took place at the Dome, University of Ghana, featuring 33 table tennis players from 12 countries.
Top performers in the boys’ category were Joseph Sebatindira of Uganda, Ayoola Umar Olawale of Nigeria, Adam Lasheen Aly of Egypt, and Ransford Antwi of Ghana. The girls’ category showcased exceptional talent, with Zeina Ayma Mohammed of Egypt, Patience Anyango of Uganda, Ritej Cherif of Tunisia, and Elizabeth Emilike of Nigeria standing out.
Ghana Table Tennis Association President, Mr. Mawuko Afadzanu, was pleased with the young players’ performance and emphasized the potential for growth in the ccsport. He highlighted the association’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting table tennis. Mr. Afadzanu expressed gratitude to ITTF Africa for hosting the 2026 edition in Ghana and welcomed the opportunity to work with Director Mikael Andersson and ITTF Hopes Week Africa head coach, Eva Jeler. He noted that Ghana needs to significantly improve its performance.
Eva Jeler praised the organizers and coaches, emphasizing the importance of such programs in advancing table tennis globally.
